First appearance under new affiliation

I joined a new organisation in September 2011, and this is the first conference I participated carrying the new flag...  It was a surprise to some of the committee members, probably because this new affiliation is not very active in research, yet they made me session chair for my presentation session.  Hhmm...

The following slide is presented at the International Conference on Computer & Information Sciences (ICCIS2012), held from 12th to 14th June 2012.  It was a colourful event.

Social intelligence - Part 2

I was the Technical Committee for this conference from the recognition I received 2 years before, and I thought I better contribute a paper too.  Fortunately, my paper was approved for this 2nd International Conference on Research and  Innovation in Information Systems – 2011 (ICRIIS’11), with the following presentation.  This time, UTM co-organise the event with UIA (IIUM).

Presenting the quantitative aspect

I had a set of quantitative data burning to be presented, and ICIMu2011 became the platform for that.  It's my way of updating my second supervisor as well.  Without realising, quite a number of senior lecturers from UNITEN were waiting for my presentation, and of course some of them missed it.  I wonder why...

This presentation was for the 5th International Conference on IT and Multimedia, held from 14th to 16th November 2011.

Last-minute preparation

It was a last-minute preparation of presentation slide, the night before the presentation day.  That's why it's a bit wordy, because I honestly couldn't remember what I wrote in the paper - imagine having about 3 papers in between the write-up and the presentation of this paper?!

Overall, the presentation went on well, at the 7th International Conference on IT in Asia (CITA 2011), Kuching, Sarawak, from 12th to 14th July 2011.  I met a lot of PhD peers from other universities there, including some whom we reunited as well.  It's a wonderful conference worth remember.

Getting more technical

Joint conferences and workshops held by MIMOS (MJCAI'11) was another challenge I received from my supervisor.  Three papers were submitted - one for conference (rejected), one for PhD symposium (abstract only, and presented), and one for workshop (approved and presented).  The following slide was presented for the Artificial Intelligence Workshop (AIW 2011), a workshop held under the Knowledge Technology Week at UNITEN, from 18th to 19th July 2011.

First conference in 2011

It was one of the 'long' conference papers I prepared, and this is the first conference paper I wrote based on my PhD research.  It is under the domain of agent technology, but focusing on personal knowledge management..., and my journey into the long list of conferences under PhD research begins...

Check out this presentation slide, prepared for the 10th International Research Conference on Quality, Innovation & Knowledge Management (QIK2011), held from 15th to 18th February 2011 at Bandar Sunway.

A product of a 4-day job

It was a surprise that my supervisor suddenly asked if I could write a paper for this conference, when the deadline is so near (in 4 days), and I surprised myself by saying "yes!"...  This is the product of my paper, presented at SCOReD2010, held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional, from 13th to 14th October 2010.

First presentation on PhD Research

My first defense on my proposed research for PhD, was in front of Prof Jon Timmis and Prof Dr Juhana Salim, at the 1st National Doctoral Seminar on Artificial Intelligence Technology (CAIT2010), held at UKM from 27th to 28th September 2010.

2-in-1: Short Paper (Best Paper Award)

During the final weeks towards the conference day, a new announcement of Call for Short Paper was received from ICRIIS'09, and I answered the challenge.  A short paper was produced, and to my great surprise, I won the Best Paper Award with this one!  Unfortunately, I didn't attend the conference dinner, so there's no photo on my receiving the award from the VVIP.

This presentation was represented at the first Student-Centred Learning Symposium on 23rd January 2010, which was an internal knowledge sharing session among academicians and researchers in UCSI University.

2-in-1: Long paper

Within a short time, I managed to submit for this conference held by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) - International Conference on Research and Innovation in Information Systems (ICRIIS'09), held from 8th to 9th December 2009, in Johor Bahru.  It was a new experience for me to present outside of the comfort of working city, and it turned out to be memorable too!

As support to the company...

What harm can it do if I want to show my support to the university where I work, right?  A quick paper was written based on an ongoing action research conducted on my classes, and it was well presented during UCSI University International Education Conference (INEC).  This conference was held for the first time from12th to 13th November 2009.

First conference at ICI9

My first attempt in submitting and getting my paper approved for conference is for The 9th International Conference for Information (ICI9).  The presentation was a success, with audience following up with me for further information on my data analysis.

This is my first conference under the research domain of educational technology.  The conference was held at Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, from 12th to 13th August 2009.  The main organiser is OUM - Open University Malaysia.
